Good evening ph2738,
Thanks for your question. I work a lot with karaoke files, so I think I can help you with the issue you are having getting the MP3 files you downloaded into GarageBand for iOS. I've looked at the Karaoke-version website, and from what I can see, you would need to download the tracks to your computer first. Then add the MP3 files to your iTunes Library, create a playlist, and sync the playlist to your iPad. My personal workflow is to download the file, rename it to 'KAR - song title' and import it to my iTunes Library. It's easy to search for the 'KAR' songs and combine them into a playlist that way. Then, when I've worked on the song, possibly changed the key, etc. and I'm ready to perform it, I change the 'KAR' to 'BT' (for backing tracks). You guessed it - I have a separate playlist of backing tracks, ready to perform. I'll include some resources below for adding files to your iTunes Library and syncing with your iPad. Now the tracks will be available for you to use in GarageBand for iOS, (if the licensing information for the website permits it.). iTunes for Mac: Import music and video already on your computer iTunes for Mac: Create a playlist Sync your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iTunes on your computer using USB GarageBand for iPad - import audio files Another source for karaoke is right in the iTunes Store. If you type the word 'Karaoke' followed by the title of the song in quotation marks, you will find many popular songs to purchase and download directly to your iPad. Enjoy the music! ![]() GarageBand User Guide for iPad
You can connect an electric guitar or electric bass and play it using a variety of highly realistic amp sounds that combine a guitar or bass amp with one or more stompbox effects. You can adjust the amp controls, add stompbox effects to customize your sound, and visually tune your instrument.
Dec 20, 2008 With reason I would record one track and one overdub. Then I would merge both tracks. When I use Garageband, the option to join track one with track two does not exist. I take it you are able to have a drum loop in track one, a drum loop in track two, and are able to combine both in a single instant. When you play your guitar or bass, a circle next to the Input Settings button lights green to show that GarageBand is receiving input from your instrument. If the circle turns red, lower the volume on your instrument to prevent distortion.
Adjust the amp controls
Reduce unwanted noise
You can use a noise gate to reduce low-level input noise when you record. A noise gate cuts off the sound when it falls below a certain minimum level.

If your iPad supports facial recognition, you can move the pedal on the Modern Wah stompbox by moving your mouth while you play. When you record, any pedal movements you make with Face Control are also recorded.
Note: GarageBand uses ARKit face tracking features to translate your facial expressions into instrument effect controls. Your face information is processed on device, and only music is captured during your performance.

Turn crosstalk protection on or off
When your guitar or bass is connected to the headphone port and monitoring is turned on, you may experience unwanted feedback due to crosstalk. GarageBand includes crosstalk protection to help protect against feedback caused by crosstalk. Crosstalk protection is especially useful when using high gain settings on a guitar or bass amp, or when using an overdrive or boost stompbox together with a high-gain amp such as the Modern Stack. In such cases, feedback caused by crosstalk can result in sudden, unpleasantly high output levels.
Crosstalk protection can change the sound of the instrument while monitoring is on, but the sound returns to normal when monitoring is turned off or another track is selected. You can turn off crosstalk protection to hear how it changes the sound; however, it is recommended that you decrease the volume of your iPad to a low level before doing so.
